Social Work Degrees

Social justice requires social work. NWU prepares you for the work—and the career—that brings social justice to people, families and communities.

If you’re committed to a career and life of service, integrity, human relationships, competency and the worth and dignity of every person, then NWU is committed to you.

We use evidence-based practices to build your potential as a professional in the challenging and rewarding social work field. A social work degree from NWU will help you become a strong, mature, objective and responsible communicator.

As a social work major, you’ll develop your competence, confidence and independence as you work with your professors and classmates. Those same strengths will serve you well as you transition to working with colleagues and clients.

Get amazing results.

You’ll learn the competencies to intervene ethically and effectively with diverse people. And you’ll learn to use the best research to evaluate decisions and advance the profession.

About half of NWU social work graduates work in child, family or school social work. Others work in medical, mental and public health fields, including substance abuse. We also prepare you to pursue a graduate degree and become a licensed, clinical social worker.

Social Work faculty

NWU Social Work professors are experienced social work professionals with backgrounds in many aspects of the field, including grief counseling, disaster response, child protection, domestic violence, chronic stress, abusive care, psychodynamic theory, the courts and probation, sex offender interventions, social work for oncology and HIV/AIDS patients, and collaborations with Native Peoples.
